Adisur is a Puranic character who is one of the four sons of father Kuber. It is said that after the death of his father he was thrown into the river which was later absorbed by the earth by multitudes of fish and crabs. Devastated Adisur narrated his woes to the King Adisur of the Solar Dynasty and his story has been rendered in verse by the anthologist, prof Babu Chittal.
As regards the rise of a military and commercial powerful state by Shivaji from the historic circumstance of dissensions within the Maratha confederation has been ably discussed by many. Sundarpana Kapadia, the famous Rajasthani Indian historian, claimed that the Marathas had started a revolt against the Mughals by the early part of the 17th century. It is certain that the Marathas began to construct fortifications in eastern Maharashtra under the orders of Shivaji's great-grandfather Umed Singh of Baroda. This early Maratha fortification against the Mughals is known as Zarisara in Maharashtra, and this name came to be adopted as the official title of the brave Umed Singh by Shivaji in his will. Another similar structure was built by Shivaji himself and given the official name of Shivaji Ganesh Khind. At the time of Shivaji's retirement, Umed Singh was still in the fort of Zarisara with 150,000 men, and the army was under his control. Shivaji at the age of 23 appointed the Chief Minister in the charge of his great-great-grandfather's army.8
The historicity of his deeds is largely held to be doubtful. There is little to support the belief that he came from Karjat and started building navratan-kund on the Western Ghats. Munshiram of Nashik and Anandrao of Poona have gravely discredited the authenticity of his ascent to the peak of Chagai. The present northern fort of Shivaji was built by his wife Tejava in the 20th year of his reign. It is said that he established his main headquarters at Poona.
Ethnographic studies of Mohammad Ahmad Baba and Majid Ansari's mother of Islamism showed that local Muslims were often syncretised very much with faith of Hindus and made part of the Hindu pantheon. MirzaHafeedaSedi's ''Qudr Bhai'' was a praise of Shivaji who declared himself a Hindu and looked upon the whole cause as merely a struggle of warriors and was very well know for tolerant beliefs and being more liberal than the others as he allowed Muslim religious preacher Adnan the right to preach in his court ( who later on converted to Islam ) In Baroda State Muslims are commemorated in two places Bangdwaj in which they were valuable craftspeople like the 'Kolkata Cantonment' and'Murshidabad'. The historian Bhopatindra Dwij bears testimony to the hand over of all the bits and pieces of sultanate to Hindu rajas in the name of 'jatiwad' (membership of one family, one caste) as he claimed in his book 'Hindu Dehati Itihasik Sanjita'. 7211a4ac4a
