A Dream Come True

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

I can remember the excitement and pride that I had in my heart in 2011 as I spoke with my mentor during our monthly check in. I announced with so much enthusiasm “ I want to be a flight attendant” . I’ve always had a passion for traveling and it’s always been a dream of mine to travel the world. Julie my mentor who has always pushed me to stay in motion and to never be complacent and to always dream big. She was definitely not impressed by my newfound “dream” of being a flight attendant.

I can still hear her saying “ you’re not about to be serving peanuts”. My fragile ego at the time was so distraught and crushed. I felt so much pride telling her my newfound dream because I love traveling and thought I'd found a way to get paid while doing what I love, LOL. In addition to that I was so impressed at the fact that I was blessed and fortunate enough to have Julie as my mentor who herself was well traveled and she was getting paid to travel across the country.

Today I am so grateful that Julie did not entertain that idea, And I am also so grateful for where I am today. As well as where I am heading. I find it so humorous how things seem to just work out. I am now not only getting paid to travel, but I make good money doing it. My hotel, rental, and flights are all covered. I even get reimbursed for my food, laundry and gas.

I am not writing this to boast or brag, however I am so proud of how far I’ve come. I went from struggling and being depressed only two years ago, to living a life that I didn’t even know actually existed. Granted I had a wonderful mentor like Julie who gave me a glimpse of what this lifestyle could be.It’s with her prayers her constantly uplifting me and pushing me to do and be better that her and many other wonderful people in my life such as Mekail my partner and my best friend who showed me the way.

Although I am so grateful for where I am and what I have now, I know that there is so much more that I want to do and so much more that I will do. I am so grateful for all of the infinite blessings in my life and I aspire to be a blessing to others I’m excited to see where this journey takes me and everything that this life has in store.

It is because of past experiences that I realized just how fast everything can be taken away, and it is because of that, that I constantly work and push myself harder to be and do better. Sometimes it all seems unreal but I know that hard work and dedication are paying off.

Thank you Julie, Mekail, Mom and Dad for not only believing in me be seeing my potential and loving me through all of my failures and successes. It is because of you that my dreams have become reality and I get to be the rich auntie that I’ve always wanted to be.
